Holistic Physical Therapy

Real Solutions for Pain, Stress, and Movement Disorders

I use a somatic and lifestyle approach to healing pain, stress, movement disorders, and trauma. When the body is faced with stress or danger, it enacts protective responses like pain, tension, and inflammation. These responses become problematic when they are not resolved, leaving the body and mind stuck.

Specialized Holistic Physical Therapy Services

I work with all types of patients with a particular interest in chronic pain, trauma, and complex issues. Most are people who feel stuck and cannot figure out why.

TMJ, Craniofacial Pain, and Headaches

Jaw pain, facial tension, chronic headaches, and migraines are some of the most frustrating problems to live with because they are so easy to misdiagnose. Most people with these issues have been to multiple providers and gotten partial answers at best. That is because jaw and facial pain are rarely local problems. They are almost always connected to how you breathe, how you hold your neck, and how much tension your nervous system is carrying. I evaluate and treat the full picture, not just the area that hurts.

Issues Commonly Addressed:

  • Jaw clenching, clicking, and pain
  • Facial pain and tension
  • Chronic tension headaches and migraines
  • Teeth grinding at night
  • Neck pain and stiffness connected to headaches
  • Unexplained facial nerve pain

Airway and Breathing Problems

Most people do not realize how much their breathing affects their pain, their sleep, and their stress levels. If you breathe through your mouth, breathe shallow, or hold your breath under stress, your body is working against itself every day. Poor breathing habits keep the body stuck in a state of defense, driving tension through the jaw, neck, and spine and making it nearly impossible to fully recover. Improving how you breathe is often one of the most important things we work on together.

Issues Commonly Addressed:

  • Mouth breathing
  • Shallow or chest-dominant breathing
  • Poor tongue posture and resting position
  • Restricted rib and mid-back mobility
  • Disrupted sleep related to breathing
  • Breathing patterns that keep the body in a stress response

Stress, Trauma, and Nervous System Regulation

If you are dealing with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, anxiety that lives in your body, or a history of trauma that never fully resolved, your nervous system is likely stuck in a state of high alert. The body is doing exactly what it was designed to do under stress, but it has not gotten the signal that it is safe to stand down. I use a body-oriented, somatic approach to help you unblock patterns of defense in your nervous system and restore normal biological rhythms. This work is available both in person in Columbus and virtually for clients in Atlanta and beyond.

Issues Commonly Addressed:

  • Chronic fatigue that does not resolve with rest
  • Fibromyalgia and widespread body pain
  • Constant muscle tension and the inability to relax
  • High work and life stress affecting the body
  • Anxiety, worry, and depression expressed physically
  • Digestive issues related to stress
  • Physical and emotional trauma history

Chronic and Persistent Pain

Chronic pain is one of the most complex problems in healthcare and one of the most undertreated. If you have been living with persistent back pain, neck pain, joint pain, or pain that moves around and defies explanation, you are not imagining it and you are not out of options. Stress and trauma directly impact the intensity of pain and alter how the body moves and functions. Chronic pain also changes how the body perceives and processes sensation, affecting movement, balance, and coordination in ways that are often overlooked.

Issues Commonly Addressed:

  • Chronic low back pain
  • Neck and shoulder tension that will not go away
  • Joint pain anywhere in the body
  • Pain that moves around or has no clear explanation
  • Feeling chronically stiff or tight
  • Sensory processing issues affecting movement, balance, and coordination
  • Recovery that has stalled after injury or surgery

Most people who find their way here have already spent years looking for answers. If your body is stuck in a pattern that standard treatment has not been able to break, that is exactly the kind of problem I work on.
